Accessibility Statement

We want Metta Herbal's website to feel welcoming to everyone, including people who use assistive technology to browse the web. This page explains where we are with that work, what we're still improving, and how to get in touch if you encounter a barrier.

Our commitment

We're working towards full conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA — the standard recognised under the UK Equality Act 2010 and the European Accessibility Act.

How accessible our website currently is

The Metta Herbal website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Most of the site can be used with a keyboard, screen reader, or other assistive technology, but we know there are still gaps we are working to close.

What we've recently improved

  • Pop-up dialogs — including search, basket, and product information panels — now keep keyboard focus inside them while open, and return focus to the right place when closed.
  • Cookie preferences are organised by category, and visitors can review or withdraw their choices at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer.
  • Alternative text has been added to product images and to images used in page content, so screen readers can describe what's shown.
  • Body text across the site comfortably exceeds WCAG's enhanced (AAA) contrast requirements, supporting readability for visitors with low vision.
  • The site has been tested manually using keyboard-only navigation and screen reader software to confirm key journeys are accessible.

Known issues we're still working on

  • Keyboard navigation: A "skip to main content" shortcut is not yet present on every page.
  • Visual design: Animations are not yet disabled for visitors who have enabled "reduce motion" in their device settings.
  • Forms and interactive elements: Some icon-only buttons and form fields may not be announced clearly by assistive technology.

We are working through these items as part of an ongoing accessibility programme.

If you encounter a barrier on our site, or you'd like to receive information from us in a different format, please email contact@metta-herbal.com. We aim to respond within five working days.

How this statement was prepared

This statement was prepared in May 2026, based on a self-assessment of metta-herbal.com against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, supplemented by an external storefront audit conducted in April 2026. We review and update this statement as our work progresses.
